No matter what location we choose for the photoshoot, I rarely run into any kind of problems…That is until I took Elena to the Newport on the Levee that night. We were both taking our time, walking around the place, me with my 70-200 mm lens and Elena with her basket full of clothes and accessories. Two of us, minding our own business, absolutely not attracting any attention right?…. Well, I add there were some kind of event going on, a concert of some kind… So when out of nowhere appeared a man in the uniform and asked us who are we and what are we doing here- I was totally speechless and unprepared… I tried to sound authoritative as I gave him my card and said: ” Hi, I am a professional photographer and we are just working on the portfolio building photoshoot for this young beautiful lady over here”…. well, the guy did not even wanted to see my card… ” Lady, did you arrange this with management? I have no idea of no photoshoot going on here today and this is private property and you are trespassing… ” Oh well, so much for a fun Urban Look and a pretty view of Cincinnati… Thanks to my past client BUlent as he arranged a little talk with one of the managers on duty and we were allowed to “wrap up” our photo shoot in 20 minutes.. Seriously? …. :)) People who know me- KNOW I do not do photoshoot in 20 minutes, unless it is my daughter Gabriella… So, long story short we were moved on the side of the building where photoshoot continued… We still attracted attention..
The bunch of cyclist in bright yellow suits were screaming : ” OH, looking beautiful” and whistling approvingly as Elena stroked another pose for me… It ended up being a fun session, regardless of the circumstances and that is what usually happens anyway. I make it work. Location, weather..it all matters to some point, when I am facing a dilemma- I got to make it work, there is no tomorrow, later, rescheduling, life is too short- I got to make it work NOW!
