Why do we call this photo-shoots Engagement Photo sessions? It is not like people JUST got engaged, right?! Shouldn’t it be called something like – “Love Story” where we ( photographers) capture THE LOVE of this couple and they ( the couple) are getting comfortable with us (photographers) – so then on a wedding day there is no tension and no “getting to know” part- we already friends and not just random strangers??? When I met Lance and Shanon- right away I knew it is not going to be just some kind of boring traditional engagement photosession! ( and just so we are clear- I have not had any boring photo sessions yet! I am always having fun with my camera and people I get to photograph) I am seeing something so powerful and breathtaking: two people madly in love with each other ( Lance especially is head over heels with Shanon- so easy to see), and not only that- they are everything: fun, spontaneous, random, smart, funky… I loved getting to know them and hanging out with them on a beach and in botanical gardens in Sarasota was just so amazing! They took a huge chunk of my heart right away that always going to belong to them- and my ribs still hurt from laughing with them ( or them laughing at me? )
Shanon and Lance met on Shanon’s first day at her new job at Tampa. She already had taken the tour of a school where she was about to start
working but just couldn’t resist “cuteness” ( as she calls it) of this guy who was assigned by the principle to give her a tour… Fast forward to their first date Lance had a dilemma- he made up this story that if he’d kiss her right now- she would fall in love with him madly and would not be able to focus at work, but he kissed her anyway! And in October of 2009 Lance took Shanon to the place where it all started- Clearwater Beach, Florida, to share with her yet another dilemma- why didn’t he propose to her sooner?
They are so adorable and so perfect for each other! To say the least- I got carried away again and took so many pictures of them, I am afraid I am faced with dilemma too- I have to break their photoshoot in two seperate parts ( before we had lunch and after) and blog twice about it- oh well! :))) It was extremely hard to pick out my favorites… So I decided to just post pictures that will tell you THEIR love story! 🙂 And how they get to spend their day… Enjoy!!!
It is so incredibly beautiful in Selby Botanical Gardens, which was started by the Marie and Bill Selby in early 1920s. The setting was truly magical and I could not help but feeling privileged to be walking around something so breathtaking created by a woman who was so passionate about nature! If you ever happen to be in Sarasota- do yourself a favor and get lost in this magical gardens!
Then after lunch and a little break we headed to the beach- and that’s where I say- to be continued.. :)))
