Today I will be talking about a set of presets for Lightroom I got to test and fall in love with! <3 JOYSTRUCK, is the name of this set and it is simply amazing! If you do not want to read my entire post and see test images just scroll down to the end of this post where I have a direct link for your 30% off of any set or the whole bundle! 😉 Without further ado, let’s begin reviewing these simple yet so sweet presets!!!
Joystruck presets come in 4 different bundles: ida, fin, lola and marlo. When you look at creators website you will see that it is very bright and colorful and geared towards children photography. Although I would say that these presets could be applied to a different range of photography! During testing I was able to use a few of my favorites presets on images from maternity session as well as my own personal images and styled portrait session. Bundles are presented in colorful boxes- each is representing a mood and a tone of presets making it very simple and easy for you to decide which on of those bundles you would love the most. ida is a yellow box : representing warmth and rich golden hues, fin is a blue box, lola is white and marlo is green.
This was such an interesting experiment for me personally, as I am pretty hesitant to use/apply any sort of “presets” to my images anyway, and I have never been able to find presets that I truly loved, so for a while I only used the ones I have created myself to fit my current style and mood. 🙂
Installation was a breeze. Very simple and straightforward. Each bundle has 12 presets with slightly different settings, and after playing for a little bit I was able to quickly see how these are adjusting my images.
As with any presets, before applying, you want to make sure your white balance is set correctly as well as your exposure. Also, I would suggest sticking to the same preset for the whole session, adjusting it slightly, so your colors are not all over the place. 😉 For example, do not apply presets from marlo to some of your images and then jump to presets from fin. 🙂 Stay within the same mood/color tone. You want consistency in your colors. always. no matter what. 🙂
And to summarize, I will post a few before and afters, so you can see for yourself how these wonderful presets are working. 🙂
Well, I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and here is also as promised a link to save you some $$$ when you decide to purchase these wonderful presets!
